Course offer - Edition 2013-2015
PLEASE NOTE: Students must obtain at least 2 degrees from 2 different European Higher Education Institutions during their two Master years. If the student already has a European degree, the two EDAMUS degrees must be different from the nationality of this degree. There are 3 degree-awarding-institutions in the EDAMUS Consortium: UM1 (France), UNIBAS (Italy) and IAMz (Spain).

SEMESTER 1 (S1) - Common courses

France (UM1-IAMM)

Semester 1 (general disciplines): all students

  • 2 immersion weeks = team building, guidance to administrative formalities, settling in, guided tours, cultural and intercultural activities.
  • attend courses on NUTRITION /FOOD SECURITY AND SAFETY / LAW / ECONOMICS

S1 goal is firstly to encorage a a rapport based on respect, harmony and solidarity so important among students from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Another essential objective is to equip and prepare students for S2 and S3 courses on food security (public policies, consumers behaviour, nutrition), food safety (logistics, industry safety, quality systems, legal aspects, hygiene org), management (marketing, packaging, business, intercultural affairs, innovation) and/or introduction to research.

SEMESTER 2 (S2) - specialisation

France (UM1-IAMM) - Italy (UNIBAS-iamb) - SPAIN (IAMz)

Semester 2, two specialisations are offered:

                   1 - NUTRITION / FOOD SECURITY AND SAFETY  at UM1 and IAMM (France)

                   2 - FOOD PRODUCTION / FOOD QUALITY at UNIBAS and IAMB (Italy)

                   3 - MAKETING AND ECONOMICS IN FOOD QUALITY at IAMZ (Spain)

Students can customize their S2 programme as follows:

  • attend specialised courses in HORTICULTURAL GENETICS AND BIOTECHNOLOGY and BUSINESS ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT at MAICh (Greece)
  • attend a specialised course in STRATEGIES FOR SAFE, HEALTHIER AND SUSTAINABLE FOODS at UCP (Portugal)
  • attend two e.learning courses ORGANOLEPTIC PROPRIETIES / FOOD DATA BASES offered by the UMC (Algeria)
  • carry out a SUPERVISED RESEARCH INTERNSHIP IN A LABORATORY at University of Tsukuba (Japan) or at University of Sherbrooke (Canada)
  • choose optional modules (maximum 10 ECTS) called: “open courses”, in order to meet  constantly changeable job market demands

ECTS gained are included among the ECTS for mandatory courses at UM1 or UNIBAS or IAMz

SEMESTER 3 (S3) - specialisation

France (UM1-IAMM) - Italy (UNIBAS-iamb)

Semester 3, three specialisations are offered:

                    1 - NUTRITION / FOOD SECURITY AND SAFETY at UM1 and IAMM (France)

                    2 - MEDITERRANEAN ORGANIC AGRICULTURE at UNIBAS and IAMB (Italy)

Students can customize their S3 programme as follows:

  • attend a specialised course in SUSTAINABILITY IN AGRICULTURAL PRACTICE at MAICh (Greece)
  • attend a specialised course in STRATEGIES FOR SAFE, HEALTHIER AND SUSTAINABLE FOODS at UCP (Portugal)
  • attend two e.learning courses FOOD QUALITY MANAGEMENT / FOOD TECHNOLOGIES AND MICROBIOLOGY offered by the UMC (Algeria)
  • choose optional modules (maximum 10 ECTS) called: “open courses”, in order to meet constantly changeable job market demands

SEMESTER 4 (S4) - internship and master thesis

Semester 4 is dedicated to:

  • industrial or research internships (in agricultural organizations or research laboratories, in European or Third countries (these internships can be carried out in organizations outside the consortium, under Consortium acceptation.

EDAMUS students learn to work independently, for a period of 6 months, on an individual research project report.

Semester 4 ends with a viva voce defense (an oral presentation) of this research/professional experience work in front of a Jury composed by Consortium members.

Partner countries and Associated Members offer internships (France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Algeria, Morocco, Canada and Japan).
