The international strategy of UM is to drive its masters towards international dimension. Currently, the University of Montpellier participates in several European education programs such as Tempus, Erasmus Mundus and Averroes. Already more than 78 cooperation agreements and 270 Erasmus bilateral agreements have been signed with foreign universities. In the context of the university mergers policy in Montpellier, a unique University named Université Montpellier Sud has been set up and identified by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research as one of 10 French Centers of Excellence. The Mediterranean Agronomic Institute (IAM) of Montpellier is one of the four institutes of the International Center for High Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM). The Agronomic Insitute of Montpellier (IAMM) in highly involved in the existence of a Euromediterranean system of high education and research in close collaboration with the other institutes of the CIHEAM in Bari, Chania and Zaragoza. With the aim of offering constantly higher services, it has implemented a quality process: it has been awarded the ISO 9001 certification in 2008 concerning its educational management and plans to extend the quality process to its research activities. It offers its open window on the Mediterranean area as well as two specific support services: 1) intensive preparatory courses in French through its linguistic centre, the CFLE (Centre de Français Langue Etrangère) - 2) Its expertise in quality assessment.
